iBAHN expands its Middle East presence with acquisition of Menacom

London - iBAHN, leading provider of digital converged services for hoteliers, today announced the acquisition of Menacom, the largest provider of digital internet services to hoteliers in Egypt.

Menacom provides plug and play connectivity for guests in leading hotel groups, including Hilton Hotels, with secure internet access in guest rooms, meeting facilities and business centres, with easy roaming between wired and wireless areas. It was established in 2001 by NTC (National Telecommunication Corporation), the fourth largest telecommunication company in Egypt.

The company has partnerships with 10 major hospitality chains and is expanding its service into the Middle East and North African markets including Jordan, Tunisia, Lebanon, Libya, Syria and Morocco. Under the deal iBAHN will add over 20,000 connected guestrooms and 45 members of staff to its portfolio.

Menacom uses the most up-to-date technologies, upgrading the local infrastructure of partner hotels to stimulate market growth, raise awareness and deliver a greater guest experience.

Graeme Powell, managing director EMEA, iBAHN, comments: “Menacom has established a reputation for high-quality support and is an ideal fit with iBAHN's strategy for growth in the Middle East and Africa. The deal follows our recent acquisition of ETV, a complete end-to-end IP system combining digital TV, video on demand, digital audio, and electronic point of sale systems, which we will integrate with the Menacom offering as quickly as possible, to offer a state-of-the-art digital package to hotel guests worldwide.”

Nour Bardai, chairman and managing director of Menacom comments: “The acquisition will enable us to rapidly achieve our vision to be the leading service company in the region that delivers an unparalleled suite of converged services and guest entertainment to the hospitality sector.”

Waseem Farouk, senior director of IT for Hilton Hotels Middle East and Africa, adds: “As an established partner with Menacom, we are excited by the potential this acquisition gives us in expanding the range of connectivity and entertainment services that we can offer our guests in the region.”
