Braodliner beats rivals to purchase of failed audiovisual distributor's key assets

The Maverick name is set to live on after Computer 2000 (C2000) acquired the assets of the fallen audiovisual distributor late on Monday night.

Maverick entered administration on 2 November following the rejection of a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) by its creditors, who are owed £3m in total.

Administrator Tenon Recovery had received a lot of interest in the assets of Reading-based Maverick, but C2000 out-bid the competition.

"Not only did C2000 put in the best offer, it also was able to move the sale through very quickly – the whole thing was completed in under 12 hours – which was a key aspect for us," said Gareth Roberts, director of Tenon Recovery.

Former Maverick managing director, Jon Sidwick, will head up the 'new' Maverick at C2000. He said "C2000 has bought the assets and trading name of Maverick Presentation Products, including the Hotlamps and Screen Experts businesses."
