'Horace' returned to his owners after nine months on the 'run'

A tortoise who disappeared from his home in Cardiff in August 2005 has been returned to his owner thanks to a microchip ID.

'Horace' went missing from the St. Brides Super Ely part of Cardiff last year, and eventually turned up in the middle of a country road in the St. Fagans area of the city nine months later.

The chip was able to inform RSPCA staff of the tortoise's name and where he lived.

The RSPCA said that this highlighted the benefits of having pets microchipped, which can cost just a few pounds.
