Vendor targets more UK resellers who can offer customer support and industry knowledge

End-point encryption vendor Pointsec has taken its first steps into the Irish market, and is looking to expand its UK partner base.

The vendor, which has also appointed its first channel sales manager to push indirect sales, has seen a 60 per cent growth over the past three years, including six consecutive quarters of growth. It is confident of beating previous records for 2006.

Speaking to CRN, Martin Allen, UK managing director of Pointsec said: “We have a strong VAR focus, and end-point security is central to the security market. Even if a mobile device, such as a PDA or laptop, is stolen, our product scrambles all the data so the thief cannot access it.

“We want VARs in strategic areas, particularly those that offer customer support and industry knowledge.”

Allen added that the vendor is not looking to flood the market with partners. It currently works with about 10 partners in the UK, including SBL, Integralis, Armadillo and its most recent Irish signing, EuroKom.

Allen said the vendor is also targeting the telecoms market, and is in the process of setting up a new division to work with telecoms pro-viders and partners. Other areas in which the vendor is having success include the banking, finance and utility sectors, he added.

Seamus Conlon, managing director of EuroKom, said his firm partnered with Pointsec because its products fit his clients’ requirements.

“Many clients told us that although we had secured their desktops and office networks, what about their mobile workforce?” he said. “We looked at several vendors as a result, and Pointsec emerged as the leader in the mobile data security space.

“Its products cover all of our bases, and it protects PCs, PDA, laptops and memory sticks. We are confident of a successful partnership.”
