London Internet Exchange launches peering software

Linx is offering firms the chance to assess its peering arrangements and the benefits of membership

The London Internet Exchange (Linx) has announced its Peering Professional service to help ISPs and network providers trial its exchange and assess the business advantages.

Linx and systems provider Renesys launched the service last week to help firms assess peering arrangements and the benefits of membership at the exchange.

The system has two elements: Peer Finder, which generates a list of current Linx members who would make peering partners; and What if Routes, which highlights available paths. Linx said that the combination would help potential members estimate the advantages of peering.

“Linx has taken care to ensure its current and prospective members have access to the most up-to-date peering information that will impact their businesses,” said Todd Underwood chief operating officer at Renesys, in a statement. “[Peering Professional] will provide future Linx members with a new level of intelligence as they look to maximise their peering relationships on a global scale”.
