EBay unites son with dead father's car

Deceased father's Chevrolet Camaro finally tracked down on auction site

Years after a US woman was forced to sell a cherished classic car following the untimely death of her husband, a remarkable eBay auction has reunited the deceased man's son with the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro.

Anthony McCoy, the original owner's son, said today that he has been searching for the car since his mother was forced to sell it in 1998.

LeRoy McCoy, Anthony's late father, purchased the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro in 1978, the year his son Anthony was born.

LeRoy and his son spent 20 years lovingly and painstakingly restoring the vehicle to its original glory.

In 1998 on his way to a car show in Tennessee LeRoy McCoy suffered a severe heart attack and died. His wife had to sell the car to finance the funeral.

Anthony finally stumbled on the Chevrolet by chance while searching a listing by QuikDrop on eBay.

He called the owner of the QuikDrop store in Ohio to try to determine whether this Camaro was the one originally owned by his father.

Anthony subsequently met the car's owner and was able to verify its authenticity. Anthony then won the auction on eBay.
