Cuts announced across all lines, enterprise servers to see biggest reductions
Dell will today announce substantial price cuts across its computer lines.
In enterprise servers, Dell plans to lop up to 28 percent off PowerEdge prices. Single-core server prices will fall by up to 13 percent and Latitude laptops will drop by up to 17 percent.
Precision workstation prices will fall by up to 20 percent and a forthcoming dual-core OptiPlex GX520 corporate desktop will cost the same as single-core models, Dell said.
Dell will also reduce pricing on services, including 10 percent off the CompleteCare protection against accidental damage to Latitude notebooks.
"We want to do something dramatic and remind people that Dell is Dell – it's a disruptive force," said the firm's UK general manager, Josh Claman, in an exclusive interview with IT Week.
