Duo unveil IP based product aimed at helping mobile workers reduce environmental impact

Wireless LAN vendor Aruba has announced it will work with communications giant Avaya to provide voice and data products which aim to help mobile workers reduce their carbon footprint.

The two companies will be offering an IP based product which incorporates parts of Avaya's Connected Teleworker and Communication Manager software, as well as its Modular Messaging servers and Aruba WLANs. The product aims to offer identity based security to mobile workers who move between locations and has a remote access point which includes a firewall and router.

Keerti Melkote, Aruba's co-founder, said: "Teleworkers aren't a vision of the future - they're hitting the streets today and this unified mobility solution enables the enterprise network to keep them securely connected wherever they choose to work.

"As more workers are untethered from their desks and sent to work on the road and in virtual offices, wired enterprise networks will evolve in favour of all-wireless unified mobility solutions."

Aruba is a Platinum member of Avaya's DevConnect programme which aims to develop and sell third party products that can interoperate with the Avaya's technology.
