Users can vote on their favourite content
Yahoo has added Digg-style functionality to its site that will pinpoint popular news stories and blog posts from across the internet based on user votes and search patterns.
The Yahoo Buzz extension counts the 'BuzzScore' for news stories, videos, images and blog posts. Content with the most votes is then considered for placement on Yahoo.com.
The current beta version features content from fewer than 100 publishers, but Yahoo plans to open the site to all interested parties.
"Yahoo Buzz builds on the recent success of the home page of Yahoo, and improves consumers' favourite online starting point by combining popular stories with the wisdom of real people to determine what is most engaging and relevant, " said Yahoo vice president Tapan Bhat.
