Indoor/Outdoor and HSUPA Capabilities Support Evolution of Broadband Networks
BARCELONA, SPAIN – Mentum announced today at the Mobile World Congress its release of Mentum Planet 4.4, including its first integrated indoor/outdoor planning capabilities in conjunction with strategic partner iBwave. This major software release also includes support for HSUPA analysis, as well as a series of software platform enhancements.
“Mentum’s research and development efforts are focused to address the needs of operators of advanced broadband networks,” said Bernard Breton, head of sales and marketing, Mentum. “Our integrated indoor/outdoor planning capability is unique in the marketplace. Support for HSUPA, on top of our existing market leading WiMAX and CDMA 2000 offering, positions us to support operators on whatever path they take to 4G.”
The Mentum Planet support for indoor/outdoor planning is delivered through an indoor module that integrates with iBwave RF-vu (see related Mentum – iBwave announcement). The indoor module lets users import a RF-vu project into Mentum Planet, enabling a user to link the outdoor network with the indoor network and to access critical components directly. The indoor network plans are also integrated into the Mentum Planet Data Manager, which supports sharing of planning projects across an enterprise IT environment. This release signifies the first release of the integrated toolset with iBwave, with development continuing to enhance the joint capabilities.
With its latest release, Mentum Planet continues to evolve its simulation of advanced 3G network technologies with support for HSUPA networks. The advanced analysis features in this optional module include the ability to model uplink throughput, as well as system performance. Group PN Code Planning is included, making plans easier to manage for engineers designing expansions and performing network optimization.
Other software enhancements in this release include support for Windows Vista, as well as the Windows XP 64-bit operating system. Mentum Planet 4.4 also supports multi-threading for propagation prediction generation to leverage multiple processors in workstations as well as server environments.
