Ingres and Pentaho partner to address demand for open source business intelligence solutions

Open source leaders announce strategic technology partnership to ensure ongoing integration of key product lines

Slough, United Kingdom – Ingres Corporation, a leading open source information management software and services company, and Pentaho Corporation, the commercial open source alternative for business intelligence (BI), today announced a technology partnership to address the growing demand for open source business intelligence solutions. Through the partnership, the companies will work together to ensure ongoing integration of key product lines, as well as support the technology integration with joint sales and marketing activities aimed at the business intelligence market.

“Pentaho has made numerous investments over the last couple of years to certify our core open source BI modules on the Ingres database,” said Erik Hoogerhuis, vice president of business development of Pentaho Corporation. “The large installed base of the Ingres database validates the technology strengths of the Ingres platform, and we look forward to partnering with Ingres to continue to drive production-ready open source BI integration in the future.”

“Business intelligence is our fastest-growing application area driven in large part by the customer’s need to extract more business value out of information locked away in ERP applications,” said Fred Gallagher, vice president of business development, Ingres Corporation. “The breadth of Pentaho’s offering is very attractive to our customers and prospects, and users will know through this partnership that we are committed to their ongoing success with open source BI.”

Pentaho’s BI capabilities, coupled with the Ingres database, can be used by organisations to address many different business challenges. For example, organisations can use Pentaho’s operational reporting capabilities running directly against Ingres-based operational systems for real-time operational reporting. Other organisations that need an integrated view of the business spanning multiple systems can use Pentaho’s extract, transform, and load (ETL) capabilities to integrate data from multiple ERP and operational systems into a data warehouse running the Ingres database. Business users can take advantage of Pentaho Dashboards and Pentaho Analysis to turn information from their Ingres databases into rich, interactive dashboards and sophisticated analytic views.
