Monster India has launched a keyword based job search application on mobile; an SMS based service using One97's 53030 shortcode. I checked out the service typing in 'Jobs Online Mumbai' and got a reasonably good response (Hello! Cellcast) of 3 succinct job postings with a second level that gave more details on the same. Fairly simple and easy to use, what comes out clearly is that they are looking at providing relevant service instead of a Gordanian knot to get the user to send more premium SMS's.
No idea about the pricing though, I reckon its Rs 3 per SMS. This is their second application after SMS express which helps employers contact candidates directly on mobile while searching resumes from MonsterIndia). At one of the recent Mobile Monday's, a Naukri exec waxed eloquent about their automated IVR service that helped remind non-active users to update CV's as well as execute push button job applications. There is a huge market gap for the unorganised job sector, including but not limited to SME's. Babajob is doing it, but there will definitely be limited applicability considering it's a pure online service.
