O2 revenue exceeds £2.5bn


Profits at the mobile operator rose to £739m in the third fiscal quarter, up £7m on last year

O2's revenue rose to €3.7bn (£2.6bn) in the third fiscal quarter, up from €3.6bn (£2.5bn) last year.

Overall profits totalled €1.05bn (£739m), a slight improvement on €1.04bn (£732m) from the same quarter of 2006. The company's UK branch performed well, with sales rising 9.7 per cent.

“O2 has delivered another robust set of results this quarter, adding 840,000 mobile customers in the third quarter, taking the total mobile customer base to 37.24 million, 8.3 per cent higher than last year," said Peter Erskine, chief executive of Telefónica O2 Europe.
