Sony opens a new VAIO portal to explore John Malkovich’s creative world

Sony is embarking on a unique project for its VAIO brand notebooks by capturing the creative influences of John Malkovich, the Academy Award-nominated actor, producer and director.

From October www.vaio-john.com will provide a window into the world of John Malkovich who, Sony says, is "like no other". The short films will feature influences from a variety of sources including John’s choice of music, architecture, authors, films and books. Further content will be added every month..

This first time collaboration captures on film the unique world of John Malkovich and the stimulation and creative thinking he experiences whilst travelling around Paris. Each month new installments and content will be uploaded onto the website so that John can share his views on life and some of the more unusual things that inspire or puzzle him.

Having used a VAIO for many years, the project came together once John saw how it could help others explore their creative influences; “Like an artist’s sketch book my VAIO allows me to maximize any creative opportunity”. During this project John used the latest VAIO FZ and TZ notebooks to capture moments of inspiration, recording soundbites and even editing the content of the site. The VAIO FZ John used allows Blu-ray Disc playback and recording. This feature made it possible for him to review the short films, which were recorded at his favourite Parisian locations, in HD quality.

In order to capture the spontaneity of John’s creative thoughts, Sony was keen to capture him as he went about his everyday life. This necessitated a compact and light-weight laptop for John to use as he dashed between theatre, hotel and meetings. John opted for the slimline carbon fibre construction of the VAIO TZ. Weighing a mere 1.24kg, and featuring 7.5 hours battery life it was ideally suited to life on the move.
