Polycom promises high-definition video conferencing

Polycom has launched a high definition, off the shelf, video conferencing tool

Video and voice collaboration vendor Polycom has launched a new product designed to give firms an “off the shelf" solution for video conferencing.

HDX800 is a video conferencing solution designed for small to medium meeting rooms and following the release of the desktop solution HDX 4000.

Ray McGroarty, Polycom’s solution marketing director, said HDX800 is designed to need little integration with the rest of a business’ IT infrastructure, making it a reasonable tool for the less technology minded to use and set up.

As with the other items in Polycom's HD family, the HDX800 aims to bring high voice and image quality together with high frame-rate and high resolution, McGroatry said.

Many of Polycom’s customers are now outsourcing to different suppliers and off-shoring overseas, making good relationships between business teams harder to sustain, said McGroarty. With Polycom’s Ultimate HD product range, clients are given increased ability to build stronger team relationships and make decisions swiftly, said McGroarty.

The attention Polycom places on high image and audio quality is to ensure communicating feels as natural as possible, he added.
