IBM wins congestion charge deal

Big Blue beat existing supplier Capita to the five year deal

IBM has beaten incumbent Capita to the five-year contract to run and manage the London Congestion Charge.

The deal with Transport for London (TfL) covers the operation of congestion charging and low emission zone schemes from November 2009, including the technology that will underpin payments and all customer contact channels.

IBM was the most economically advantageous bid, according to TfL interim director of congestion charging Graeme Craig.
