IBM snaps up NovusCG for undisclosed sum

Storage firm adds skills and assets to Big Blue’s portfolio

IBM has acquired NovusCG as an addition to its Storage and Data Services business unit.

Financial terms of the deal for the privately-held storage firm were not disclosed.

"The combined capabilities of IBM Storage and Data Services and Novus will provide clients improved access to business information, enable stronger regulatory and corporate compliance, and boost their overall information technology performance,” said an official statement from IBM.

IBM said it would integrate NovusCG’s storage service assets and best practices into its portfolio, including the company’s asset-based delivery model, proprietary tools, formalised methodologies and multi-vendor skills.

"With our culture of innovation at Novus, we are an excellent fit," said Sean Garvey, president, chief executive officer and co-founder of NovusCG.

The acquisition follows IBM’s buyout of Softek Storage Solutions earlier this year.

NovusCG is based in Manassas, Virginia and its client list includes multi-national Fortune 500 corporations as well as mid-market clients, including banking and finance to government, health care, retail and telecommunications.
