BT signs deal with steel giant

Contract to provide network services to more than 40 countries worldwide

BT has signed a €20m (£13.8m) global services network agreement with ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steel company.

Under the terms of the three-year contract BT will provide wide area network services to more than 700 sites, based in over 40 countries across the world.

The deal also gives the telco first and last refusal rights for any additional sites that may be added to the network in the future.

The BT partnership will pave the way for the provision of Voice over IP and Local Area Network service, according to ArcelorMittal.

"Investments in our IT infrastructure are strategic to the business, enabling flexibility and improving quality at the best cost," said vice president of IT Patrick Vandenberghe.
