Vendor is on the look-out for more signings to its dedicated ISV partner programme
Enterprise mobility vendor Symbol Technologies has recruited 125 EMEA ISVs for its dedicated ISV partner programme in less than a year.
The vendor is on the hunt for more ISVs to join the programme, which was launched last November, but has claimed it will not undertake a mass recruitment drive.
Symbol was acquired by rival vendor Motorola last month (CRN Online, 19 September).
James Pemberton, ISV manager for EMEA, told CRN: “We have recruited 125 ISVs in EMEA, with 60 in the UK. The UK accounting for 40 to 50 per cent of EMEA comes as no surprise because it is a hotbed of software development.
“We are cherry-picking new partners from different segments. We reach the local players, and the next stage is to improve our coverage in each country.”
Pemberton added that Symbol has not set a figure for the number of ISVs it intends to recruit, because it operates a coverage model, which is based on region and vertical markets.
“The programme recruitment is an ongoing process,” he said. “We are not running a formal campaign, but we are always on the lookout for good partners. Every day new ISVs are coming under our radar.”
The strongest vertical for ISV recruitment is mobility for field sales workers, while some of Symbol’s latest products also cover this area, Pemberton added.
Jason Airey, managing director of Symbol ISV CMS Global Technologies, said: “Symbol has reached a good level of ISV partners and the programme is well managed. Previously Symbol was trying to do everything through distribution.
“I would like to see more lead generation, and we will continue to create relationships with Symbol’s reseller channel.”
