Memory manufacturer SanDisk Corp. doubles the capacity of available microSD cards with the introduction of the 2GB microSD card.
At the CES 2006 in January SanDisk introduced the 1GB microSD card. The 2GB microSD card is now the largest microSD card available.
SanDisk Corp. announced on Thursday that it will begin selling microSD memory cards at capacities up to 2-gigabytes in Japan by October 25th, the highest amount of storage offered in microSD format to this date.
According to an analysis by SanDisk, 49% of the latest mobile phones that have memory card slots are using the microSD format.
