BT, NTL and AOL bottom of the list of nine ISPs

The three biggest UK broadband suppliers offer the worst service, according to a YouGov poll carried out for USwitch.

BT, NTL and AOL came bottom in a poll that gauged people's satisfaction with their broadband service, despite accounting for half the UK market between them.

NTL propped up the table with 81 per cent satisfaction, while BT had 82 per cent and AOL joined Wanadoo and Tiscali on 83 per cent.

At the top of the list, with a 92 per cent satisfaction rating amongst its customers, was PlusNet.

"It's more important to do well in customer surveys than any other type of accolade," said Brian Trevaskiss, marketing manager at PlusNet.

"To come top in four categories including 'best value for money' and 'most likely to be recommended' is a real achievement, but to win 'best customer support' and 'highest overall customer satisfaction' is a credit to the whole PlusNet team."

Of the 9.8 million broadband users in the UK, USwitch said that just under half would consider changing their service this year.
