Association assesses potential storage networking courses for VARs

The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) has begun assessing storage networking courses from industry training providers to offer resellers a greater choice of certified courses.

Under the Storage Networking Certification Programme (SNCP), the SNIA will analyse training providers’ storage networking training programmes to assess their impartiality and applicability to VARs.

Kay Mushens, chair of the marketing committee at the SNIA, told CRN: “This will give the channel a background of training on storage networking. It will allow VARs to offer a greater degree of understanding to the end-user as to which vendor solution best meets their needs.”

The SNIA added that training courses are tested to be compliant with up to four of its credentials: sales qualification, storage architecture, storage foundations and storage administration/management.

One of the first UK storage networking training providers to be authorised by the SNIA is Infinity I/O. Peter Coleman, managing director of Infinity I/O, told CRN: “The SNIA has now validated all of the courses. The benefit to the end-user and the channel is that they can choose from a training provider that definitely meets the highest and most appropriate standards.”
