Rangers FC tackles costs with new ticketing system

Scottish football club introduces online processing for season ticket holders

Scottish football club Rangers FC plans to make cost savings by launching an online ticketing system.

The customer relationship management system will allow the club's 42,000 season ticket holders renew their membership online and also use the service to book tickets for away games and other competitions.

The system was developed by Software4Sport and is based on a technology called Talent Sport ticketing, used by other clubs including Liverpool, Ipswich and Leeds.

'By giving supporters the opportunity to do all this in one go, we have made the process quicker and easier. Because it is automated, supporters get an instant confirmation of their purchase,' said Andy Ward, head of ticketing at Rangers FC.

Rangers says it will also be able to make cost savings by cutting the number of temporary staff it needs to employ each year to process season ticket applications.

'This year, we have been able to reduce temporary staff headcount by ten people, thanks to the new service and other cost efficiencies that Talent Sport brings,' said Ward.
