More middle-managers are finding jobs in IT via the web, according to one online recruitment vendor
Online spending on IT recruitment has increased over the last year, according to new research by web recruitment firm Fish4jobs. In a survey of their IT clients last month, 57 percent of respondents said they thought more money is being spent on recruiting IT staff online now than in 2005, while 29 percent said they thought the figure was the same.
The trend can be partly explained by the increasing percentage of the UK population now connected to the internet, according to Fish4jobs group marketing director, Sean Mahon.
"We're seeing an increasing number of people qualified in IT disciplines across the UK and a [growing] range of IT disciplines, he said. "IT [recruiters] have traditionally advertised on [specialist] sites, but now they're using more generalist sites [like] ours because they attract a larger cross-section of people."
He added that firms may be using mainstream sites for recruiting middle management and lower end IT staff, while the more specialist sites and publications - such as Computingcareeers.co.uk - are used to attract more experienced roles.
