Google’s new kit promises to help firms search their systems more efficiently and securely
Google’s has enhanced its search hardware offerings with the ability to securely search popular business applications.
Launched today, the Google Search Appliance, which includes OneBox for Enterprise, gives “corporations secure access to information in any application in the enterprise from the convenience of the Google search box”, according to the firm.
Google's Matthew Glotzbach said, “From a single search box [the new product will give] access to all your information securely, very fast and reliably. You should have a unified experience across that information [because] where the information lives shouldn't dictate where you should go [to get] it."
The system was designed in cooperation with enterprise application developers, including Netsuite, Salesforce, SAS, Cognos and Cisco. OneBox gives firms the ability to crawl through more than 200 file types, and features LDAP and SAML interfaces for security and authentication.
