Software vendor targets 20 to 30 more resellers to boost education market presence
Apple subsidiary FileMaker is looking for more education resellers to sell its range of database software.
FileMaker provides software for schools, colleges and universities. It is seeking more specialist VARs to enhance coverage.
Jim Kinloch, marketing manager of FileMaker, said: “We have 300 listed partners, 20 of which are active. We would like another 20 to 30 resellers that specialise in education.
“There is a lot of growth in the public sector. Local authorities are interested in our products.”
Kinloch added that FileMaker is seeing success with its software administration tools and lesson planner programme for teachers.
Rob Bamforth, principal analyst at Quocirca, said: “Margins are tight in education, but as it is government based, there will be money spent. Having FileMaker as part of an education VAR’s portfolio is a good idea, but business will be seasonal.”
