Vendor promises channel positive outcome of acquisition
Advanced Digital Information Corporation (ADIC) has made a pledge to its UK resellers that they will feel the benefit from its recent $63m acquisition of data de-duplication software vendor Rocksoft.
ADIC claimed the acquisition of Australian-based Rocksoft will allow it to help end-users manage, move, retain and protect their data more effectively on different kinds of storage resources.
Kevin Honeycutt, vice-president of sales and marketing EMEA at ADIC, said: “It’s a technical acquisition for us, because this field of de-duplication is very significant. UK channel partners will see things change and opportunities for new revenue arise,” he said.
Honeycutt added that Rocksoft’s software will open up opportunities for partners, everywhere from the SME sector to the enterprise.
“Potentially there is a wide market here that UK ADIC channel partners may be able to take advantage of,” Honeycutt added.
However, Mike Lawrence, managing director of VAR Bentpenny, told CRN that the term ‘data de-duplication’ still needs some clarification.
“There’s no specification of what data de-duplication really is, so it can therefore be very difficult to define exactly what the opportunity for channel partners is,” he said.
