Satoru Iwata remained tight-lipped about the timing and pricing of the Revolution
All eyes were on Nintendo at the Game Developers Conference in San Jose, Calif., where many hoped to hear details on the launch of the company's highly-anticipated new console, the Revolution.
But during his keynote address Thursday, President Satoru Iwata remained tight-lipped about the timing and pricing of the Revolution, according to media reports.
He did announce that a new game in Nintendo's (other-otc: NTDOY.PK - news - people ) popular Legend of Zelda series, the Phantom Hourglass, will launch later this year and is designed exclusively for the portable Nintendo DS.
He also said that Revolution will support games developed for the Sega (other-otc: SEGNF.PK - news - people ) Genesis. Whether or not this benefits Nintendo's competitors remains to be seen.
On Tuesday, Microsoft announced that it will ship "two to three times" the number of Xbox 360 consoles weekly to the retail channel. Since its release last November, the console has been in extremely short supply.
On March 15, Sony announced it will delay the global release of its eagerly awaited PlayStation 3 to November.
Nintendo may announce more details at the E3 2006 conference, beginning May 9.
