Systemwalker suite of desktop management tools now available in Europe
Fujitsu has announced the European availability of its Systemwalker suite of server and desktop management tools.
Although the suite is new to European firms, Systemwalker has an 11-year development history and is currently used by over 4.4 million end-users at nearly 26,000 customers in Japan. There are already several hundred customers using the suite in Europe.
Raymond Buchan, director of marketing and business development at Fujitsu, said the firm had been training its in-house support staff for the European push.
The Systemwalker suite includes a set of desktop tools for controlling Windows-based PCs and server-side tools for monitoring and managing applications. The desktop tools cover hardware and software inventory, remote control and software distribution.
The server-based tools are available for a range of operating systems and provide some similar capabilities, but are more focused on providing data to help manage IT operations. For example, the Centric Manager component could handle much of the inventory and licensing roles for Unix, Linux and Solaris based servers, while Operation Manager can handle job management for SAP/R3. Buchan said an important feature of the offerings is that customers can mix and match versions of the software, which is particularly important for customers that need to run specific versions in certain departments to comply with regulations. Systemwalker can be purchased as a complete suite, as a selection of its component parts, or as a service from Fujitsu.
Systemwalker has also been added to Fujitsu's hosted Triole offering. Buchan said Triole takes a stack of hardware, software and integrations services and delivers it as a service to customers.
