Jean-Francois Bessiron hired by broadliner to fill newly created inventory director role

Computer 2000 (C2000), the UK arm of Tech Data, has appointed Jean-Francois Bessiron to the newly created role of UK inventory director.

Bessiron joins from B&Q, where he recently held the position of head of supply chain for seasonal products, where he helped the company to devise and implement a successful multi-channel supply chain strategy.

Steve Lockie, C2000’s managing director, said: “We are delighted to have Jean-Francois on the team. His extensive experience in the retail sector will give us a fresh and very detailed insight into the whole supply chain process and he will, I am certain, be able to show us how we can do what we already do very well, even better.”

Bessiron said: “Computer 2000 is a very progressive and forward-thinking organisation and I am looking forward to working with Steve and the rest of the board to help the company move onto the next phase of its development. My experience in the retail sector should be valuable in helping us to find new ways to make even more efficiency and cost-savings in the supply chain."

As a first priority, Bessiron said he will be taking a close look at the interactions between C2000 and its vendor partners to see what further efficiencies and value can be delivered to reseller customers. Bessiron believes that there is more that the IT industry can do to extend the value of its supply chain and says that C2000 is well positioned to take advantage of that.

“IT vendors are very good at developing new products and bringing them to market but I am not sure that their interactions with distributor and reseller partners are as effective as they could be."
