Avanquest to secure more VARs

vendor hoping to lock in more partners with PC Guardian range

Hybrid vendor and distributor Avanquest is planning to diversify its channel offering by seeking new resellers for PC Guardian’s range of security hardware.

Avanquest has the sole distribution rights for US vendor PC Guardian, which provides security locks and cables for laptops, desktops, and cable anchors.

Nigel Trevena, UK sales manager at Avanquest, said: “We are looking to get more resellers on board. We have about 10 VARs for the PC Guardian range, but we want more.

“We are looking to complement resellers’ portfolios. VARs that supply laptops and desktops can provide a computer lock as well, enabling the channel to provide a more complete solution.”

Chris Thompson, managing director of Avanquest, said: “According to PwC’s Information Security Breaches Survey 2004, one in 10 businesses

have computers stolen. PC Guardian is a product leader in this particular market space, with more than 150 high-spec computer security products in its range.”

Clive Longbottom, service director at analyst Quocirca, said: “Firms are not that bothered about locks and cables for computers. People are buying laptops because they like the sleek look.”
