Wireless-G router supports CDMA

Cisco division Linksys has unveiled its WRT54G3G-NA Wireless-G Router for mobile broadband which enables users to share a single wide area mobile signal with up to five people.

Consumers and businesses without a wired broadband connection will now have a way to access the internet, and share files, printers and other resources.

The Wireless-G Router is designed to work with mobile broadband data services based on CDMA.

Users plug their mobile broadband card into the PC card slot on the router, turning their wide area mobile broadband connection into a shared wireless 802.11g and wired local area network (Lan) for connected users.

The device is ideal for consumers and business users who require network connections in areas where wired broadband access is not readily accessible.

Without a mobile broadband data card inserted, the router works as a standard wireless router for sharing an internet connection, files, printers and other networked resources.

To protect data and privacy on the network, the WRT54G3G-NA encodes all wireless Lan transmissions with WEP or WPA security. The router can also act as a DHCP server, and features a stateful packet inspection firewall.
