Sushi bar chain replaces ageing infrastructure and hopes to get a payback in two years

Restaurant chain Yo! Sushi has implemented a multi protocol label switching (MPLS) network with the aim of connecting 100 restaurants by 2010.

The company hopes to achieve a return on its investment in the next two years.

The network replaces the previous infrastructure, a “pseudo leased line over copper”, which was close to full capacity, said Yo! Sushi’s IT manager Billy Waters.

“We wanted to more effectively link all of our internal voice requirements for the 30 restaurants,” said Waters.

“Above all, it means that we have a one-stop shop – it sounds clichéd but it means we no longer have to deal with BT, an ISP, a router company and so on,” he said.

“Just cancelling the BT lines for internal calls alone has saved us huge amounts of money.”

Suppliers NetworkFlow and GP Network Solutions handled the implementation of the MPLS network.
