Operator looks for ways to improve indoor mobile coverage

T-Mobile is investing in Ubiquisys, a firm that makes femtocell devices that deliver 3G mobile broadband coverage in homes and offices.

Ubiquisys femtocells are being trialled by a number of mobile operators, including T-Mobile and O2. Devices are in mass production with Sony Technium and set for commercial release at the end of this year.

The T-Mobile Venture Fund joins Google, Accel Partners, Atlas Venture and Advent Venture Partners in making a strategic investment in Ubiquisys, the terms of which were not divulged.
