Red Hat operating system beta updated

Red Hat has updated its Linux operating system and released the result to beta testers

Linux distributor Red Hat has released the latest version of its enterprise Linux operating system for beta testing, with a focus on the desktop and virtualisation.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux features an upgraded virtualisation hypervisor, Xen V3.12 and support for up to 64 processors per systems with up to 512GB of memory per server. Also the 'libvirt' technolog, used to manage the virtualisation instances, now gets remote management support.

It also sees advances to the operating system's clustering capabilities, enhancing its application failover support. Along with the virtualisation enhancements, this should provide greater stability for the server estate.

Red Hat expects the beta testing period to continue until May.
