Turkey’s prepaid market-leader migrates entire prepaid portfolio onto DIGITALK IP platform

Milton Keynes, UK - Millenicom, Turkey’s largest calling card and call shop operator, has migrated its entire prepaid services portfolio onto the DIGITALK Media Application Server (MAS), providing a full set of turnkey value-added features and applications on the multiservice platform.

Millenicom, a fully-owned subsidiary of Germany based European Telecommunication Holding AG, adopted the DIGITALK MAS as part of its strategy to migrate all its services to an IP-based solution and to align its platform with its sister company in Germany, which has been successfully using DIGITALK since 2003. The operator will also use the DIGITALK platform to launch a range of new services, including a web-based virtual calling card and a residential VoIP service, both planned for launch in 2008.

The operator successfully completed deployment of the DIGITALK MAS in July 2007 allowing it to replace its previously separate calling card and call shop prepaid platforms with a single scalable, IP-based solution. As well as reducing complexity, this implementation will allow the company to exploit synergies by using the same platform across all its subsidiaries.

“The DIGITALK Media Application Server was an integral part of our strategy to migrate all our prepaid services over to an IP-based platform,” said Tugrul Cora, General Manager Millenicom Turkey. “Our sister company in Germany has been using DIGITALK for five years so we have seen first hand how robustly the platform has performed. We have also been continuously impressed by the level and responsiveness of DIGITALK’s 24/7 customer support.”

“We see Turkey as a key market poised for growth so we are very excited to be working with Millenicom to support its IP-based prepaid business,” said Mark Ashdown, Sales and Marketing Director, DIGITALK. “Our Media Application Server is one of the most successful IP-based NGN platforms to incorporate a Turnkey Multi Service Concept. This deal is further evidence that DIGITALK is the platform of choice for service providers that are looking to rollout new IP-based services quickly and easily.”
