NEXTEL Perú to Offer Mobile Services for SMBs with Oficina Nextel Powered by SimMobile

Mobile operator to leverage Simdesk’s mobile services platform to support services strategy

BARCELONA – Simdesk Technologies today announced an agreement with NEXTEL Perú to power its Oficina Nextel mobile services offering for small-to-medium size businesses (SMBs). Recognising the compelling growth opportunities the SMB market represents, NEXTEL Perú plans to deploy Oficina Nextel powered by SimMobile due to the mobile solution’s low cost of deployment and its high-value mobile services that can be delivered to any mass-market handset or smart phone.

As Perú’s market-leading mobile service provider for SMBs, NEXTEL Perú maintains the country’s highest customer satisfaction rating, which is largely attributed to the company’s high quality of service and deep understanding of subscriber needs. Oficina NEXTEL represents the mobile operator’s focus on delivering data services designed to meet the needs of market segments beyond the large enterprise.

Mobile subscribers in Perú and throughout Latin America rely heavily on mobile communications for their day-to-day business operations, particularly for employees dispatched in the field. And because employees of many businesses in Perú do not have their own assigned desktop or notebook computers, they rely heavily on mobile devices for communication and productivity.

“As the leading mobile operator for SMBs in Perú, we work closely with our customers to ensure we provide access to the services they need to be productive and successful,” said Christian Bazan, data services manager, NEXTEL Perú. “In designing the right services to meet the needs of Perú’s SMBs, we must evaluate market realties such as access issues, budgets and the specific types of mobile devices our customers own. We’re working to deploy Oficina Nextel because the SimMobile platform provides us with a mechanism to efficiently and cost effectively reach the SMB market and provide them with options that best meet their needs.”

With Oficina Nextel, mobile subscribers in Perú will have access to affordable mobile services including e-mail, shared calendars, contacts and notes, a network file system and virtual printing – all delivered to any mass-market handset or smart phone. The solution’s network file system enables subscribers to access all of their user-generated content (UGC), including work files, music and streaming videos anywhere, any time. Oficina Nextel makes any phone a smart phone without the associated high handset costs.

“We are pleased to partner with NEXTEL Perú to help them design mobile services that fit the needs of their market, and in particular the SMB market,” said Lou Waters, president, Simdesk Technologies. “Today’s SMB customers desire access to mobile services that will help them be more productive, especially for workers dispatched with their customers in the field. SimMobile was designed specifically to help mobile operators cost effectively and efficiently reach this largely untapped market segment with the mobile services they want and on the devices they already own.”
