Flash Networks Selects Surf Communication Solutions to Support its Video Streaming Shaping and Adaptation Solution for Mobile Devices

Surf’s AMC multimedia processing platform provides high density video processing for Flash Networks’ quality of experience solutions

Yokne'am, Israel and Herzliya, Israel – Surf Communication Solutions (“Surf”), a leading provider of multimedia embedded processing solutions, and Flash Networks, a leading provider of mobile Internet quality-of-experience (QoE) solutions, announced today that Flash Networks has selected Surf’s SurfRider/AMC multimedia processing solution to provide video streaming shaping, video streaming adaptation and video advertising insertion functionality to enable video advertising and quality viewing of streaming video on handheld devices.

Already commercially deployed in dozens of top-tier wireless carriers worldwide, Flash Networks’ quality of experience solutions provide fast browsing and downloads, web to mobile content adaptation and parental controls. Flash Networks selected Surf’s AdvancedMC (AMC) form-factor multimedia processing solution to meet the intense media processing requirements demanded by mobile video operators.

The SurfRider/AMC DSP farm includes a complete media processing package for audio, video, modem and fax, pre-integrated with leading carrier boards. Since the media processing is performed at the DSP level, and not on the host, the Surf product provides an ideal cost-effective solution for high density video channel processing at the lowest possible power consumption.

“Flash Networks selected Surf’s technology for its ability to handle heavy-duty video processing and its field-proven integration with leading carrier boards,” said Eli Mahal, Vice President of Marketing at Flash Networks. “Surf’s technology enables Flash Networks’ Mobile Internet Services Platform, Harmony, to provide mobile users with optimized video streaming and enables operators to increase revenues with targeted video advertising.”

“We are pleased to be selected as a key supplier for Flash Networks’ mobile services platform,” said Doron Hendler, Surf’s VP Sales. “This project demonstrates how Surf's DSP-based approach to multimedia processing, combined with our powerful video processing capabilities and hardware partnering strategy, provides our customers with comprehensive, integrated and scalable solutions.”
