Dell trumpets green credentials

World's number two PC manufacturer joins The Climate Group

Dell has become the first computer company to join The Climate Group, an organisation that works with business and government leaders to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy.

The announcement was made at the Challenges and Opportunities in a Carbon Constrained World conference held on Wednesday at the Federal Reserve Bank in Houston.

Dell already claims to have one of the lowest 'carbon intensities' in the Fortune 50 and is now pledging to reduce it by a further 15 per cent by 2012.

"Dell's commitment to becoming the 'greenest' technology company on the planet involves continually seeking ways to reduce our emissions, learn from others and share best practices worldwide," said Gil Casellas, Dell's vice president of corporate responsibility.
