Dell buys messaging specialist for £79m

MessageOne deal adds email management capacity to Dell's software as a service package

Dell is buying managed services specialist MessageOne in a $155m (£79m) cash deal.

The acquisition gives the PC maker an addition to its software as a service (SaaS) portfolio, with a particular emphasis on email management, message archiving and business continuity of messaging platforms.

The company has recently expanded its SaaS options with a number of acquisitions as it tries to compete with rivals such as IBM, HP and EMC that offer complete packages of hosted services for UK business customers.

MessageOne is part owned by Adam Dell, the brother of Dell founder and chief executive Michael Dell.
