Bookham Appoints Telecommunications Industry Veteran Yves LeMaitre as Vice President of Telecommunication Sales and Vice President of Corporate Market


San Jose, Calif., – Bookham Inc., a leading provider of high performance optical components, modules and subsystems, today announced the appointment of 20-year telecommunications industry veteran Yves LeMaitre as vice president of global sales for Bookham’s telecommunications division and vice president of corporate marketing. Mr. LeMaitre, who will be based in Bookham’s headquarters in San Jose, will be responsible for leading the Company’s telecom sales team and corporate communications group.

“We are delighted to welcome Yves to the Bookham management team,” said Adrian Meldrum, general manager of Bookham’s telecommunications division. “His considerable experience and knowledge of the optical industry significantly strengthens the company and will help us to achieve our growth plans as we drive new products into our global customer base and keep recruiting new customers.”

Prior to joining Bookham, Mr. LeMaitre held several executive level positions with Avanex Corp., most recently serving as Chief Marketing Officer in charge of worldwide sales and marketing. Previously, Mr. LeMaitre was president and chief executive officer of Lightconnect, a leading supplier of optical MEMS components and modules. In addition, Mr. LeMaitre worked for Alcatel and its joint venture with Sprint International in a variety of general management, senior marketing and engineering positions in the United States, France, the Netherlands and Italy.

Mr. LeMaitre graduated from Nantes University in France with a master's degree in mathematics and computer science. He also holds an engineering degree from Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications (ENST) in Paris.

Mr. LeMaitre begins his role at Bookham immediately and will represent the Company at this year’s OFC/NFOEC (booth #1334), taking place later this month at the San Diego Convention Center, February 24-28, 2008.
