UK vendor among winners of Ingenuity Point competition

Microsoft has unveiled the first winners in its Ingenuity Point contest to recognise the achievements of independent software vendors (ISVs) in the fields of healthcare, education and the environment.

Winners include UK education software vendor TR Control Solutions for its ecoDriver Schools software intended to help students, teachers and administrators monitor and minimise their consumption of power, water and paper.

EcoDriver users can also collaborate and share best practices using a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server-based collaboration tool.

Other victorious ISVs include Tobii Technology in Sweden, and OSIsoft in California.

"ISVs want to be successful and be good global citizens at the same time," said Rob Bernard, chief environmental strategist at Microsoft.

"Ingenuity Point is part of our efforts to put the spotlight on some of the incredible work we've seen from ISVs, and help those companies use their expertise to make a bigger impact."
