Merger deals overlook IT

Nearly 80 per cent of acquisitions ignore the task of merging computer systems

Technology integration is ignored in 79 per cent of merger and acquisition (M&A) deals, according to a survey by Bloor Research.

Half of respondents said their newly-merged companies had undergone no integration of its IT systems within three months – the deadline for disclosing consolidated financial information.

And more than one third did not expect integration to be complete within two years, or were unable to guess when the process would be complete.

Bloor surveyed 56 chief information officers and senior IT personnel at the National Computing Centre on behalf of software company Informatica.
