WebEx looks to ditch direct sales

Web-based conferencing vendor WebEx has revealed it wants to move away from direct sales and become 100 per cent channel friendly.

Following Cisco’s acquisition of WebEx, the vendor has been concentrating on moving towards generating all its business from the channel. To date, 95 per cent of its business is direct and the vendor admits it has a way to go.

So far WebEx has three UK partners in the UK - Dimension Data, 2e2 and Touchbase - and hopes to increase the number to 15 by the end of next year.

“Our partners in the UK and across Europe will be key to us establishing a sustainable strategy,” explained Daniel van den Hoven, EMEA channel manager at WebEx.

“It is going to take time to make an impression in the channel, so the knowledge and expertise of our existing partners will be invaluable.”

Mike Danson, managing director of WebEx partner Touchbase, said: “It has been refreshing to be involved in helping WebEx with its channel strategy.”
