UK wants spectrum for mobile internet

The switchover bandwidth should be used for new broadband services, says Ofcom survey

Two-thirds of UK consumers want spectrum freed up by the digital switchover to be used for mobile broadband and better phone coverage, according to an Ofcom survey.

The second most popular choice (45 per cent) was to use the spectrum for more standard definition channels on freeview digital TV.

High Definition and mobile TV were the two least popular options, rated as important by 12 per cent and two per cent of respondents, respectively.
