Memory prices will rise, says Samsung


Chipmakers will move to producing flash chips for mobile phones

Consumer preference for portable technology will cut demand for traditional PC memory chips, according to Samsung Electronics

Production will shift to flash chips, says the Korean conglomerate.

In October, Samsung blamed flat third-quarter profit due on low prices for memory chips. And it is forecasting it will sell 25 per cent more phones next year compared with 2007.
