Dixons goes green with wooden TVs

Swedish Tree-V units built with natural ash or beech frames

Currys and its online sister Dixons are lining up a Christmas range of wooden flat-screen TVs.

Sourced exclusively from Swedish manufacturer Swedx, the Tree-V units are built with natural ash, sapele or beech from sustainable forest sources, according to the retailers.

The 19in widescreen LCD TVs feature built-in Freeview tuners, and include HDMI to allow optimal picture quality from digital sources. The Tree-Vs also feature standard Component, Scart, PC and AV inputs.

"We are delighted to be the exclusive stockists of the Tree-Vs from Swedx," said DeVere Forster, e-commerce director at Dixons.

"They are high specification televisions with the advantage of being constructed with frames from natural, renewable, sustainable and recyclable resources.

"Owning a Tree-V is a great way of making a small contribution to planet Earth while watching it on the telly at the same time."

The Tree-Vs will be coming to Currys and Dixons "just in time for Christmas" but reservations can be made online now. Pricing has yet to be confirmed.
