Dell conjures up Everdream purchase

Acquisition beefs up SaaS portfolio

Dell intends to purchase Everdream, a privately held software as a service (SaaS) vendor.

Everdream specializes in web-based services which allow administrators to remotely manage individual workstations. The services include remote security, document and data management along with general maintenance.

When the deal is complete, Dell plans to integrate Everdream's offerings into its services business. Everdream's services will be bundled with services Dell acquired from its acquisition of Silverback Technologies in July.

Like Everdream, Silverback runs services that allow customers to remotely manage networks.

Dell hopes that the new service bundle will allow the company to offer its enterprise customers the ability to run their entire IT operations from a remote office.

On-demand services have been a major part of Dell revamped enterprise strategy. Remote management was listed by the company as one of the key selling points of the Vostro SME campaign.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Dell did not give an estimate on when the acquisition would be completed.
