Market offers huge growth, if companies can avoid corruption
Vietnam's mobile market will grow by 75 per cent in the next four years, according to a report by Research and Markets.
Based on the 3.2 million new cellphone users in 2005, the analyst firm predicts significant subscriber growth up to the year 2010.
According to the report, the increase in users will kickstart a booming market for mobile subscribers, data services and portals.
The company also found that mobile content is still in its embryonic stages in Vietnam and represents an excellent ground floor opportunity for mobile content developers and aggregators.
However, Research and Markets warned that there is still a fear of corruption for any company hoping to enter the burgeoning market.
"The Vietnam market still has a widespread degree of corruption, and the telecoms market is no exception," said the company in a statement.
